Make A Route Plan.

Komodo Island is part of the Sunda Islands, east of Java and Bali. If you’re flying internationally, you can get to the island via Jakarta or Bali. You can take a domestic flight from either city to Labuan Bajo (also known as Komodo Airport) in Flores, the hub for Komodo tours. A flight from Jakarta to Labuan Bajo takes about 2.5 hours, whereas a flight from Bali takes only one hour. A multi-day boat trip from Lombok is another popular alternative route for backpackers.

Select The Best Season.

There is no bad time to visit a strange island inhabited by ancient dragon species and other fascinating wildlife. It is useful to know what to expect at any given time. April to June are popular due to the stunning green scenery and calm, clear sea. September to November are ideal for spotting marine wildlife such as manta rays, whale sharks, sperm whales, and others. Because it is high season in July and August, the island will be overrun with tourists. If you must travel during this time, make reservations for tours and accommodations as soon as possible. The monsoon season begins in January and peaks in February. During this time, many tours choose not to operate.

Select A Tour

Numerous tour companies operate on the islands of Komodo National Park. You should research their services and prices before booking, as each has a distinct advantage. Some services provide a variety of packages with varying highlights. You can also choose a boat or tour service on the spot, but be prepared to pay more or settle for less-reputable options.

Pack The Comfortable Clothes

Exploring Komodo Island will require a lot of trekking, so dress accordingly. Choose moist cotton clothing and a comfortable pair of shoes or mountain sandals. Bring your swimsuit; Komodo Island has the most beautiful beaches and vibrant marine biodiversity.

The Sun’s Protection

A small island’s tropical weather can be scorching. The sun can be extremely hot, so bring plenty of sunblocks and the highest SPF you have. When trekking in the open, a hat is also recommended.
