Discovered of Sarthe: A Beau-Écologique Department in the West of France

To date, the Department is the owner of 4 sites which it promotes: the Prée d’Amont at Vaas, the Vivier at Challes, the meadows of the Gallo-Roman site of Cherré at Aubigné-Racan and the Beauverger cellar as well as chestnut groves of Guillaumeries and Naillerie in Lavernat. Beyond the protection of these spaces, it is a matter of promoting and promoting ENS, for educational purposes. The Sarthe is home to a multitude of animal and plant species, it is a rich and fragile living environment that must be respected, which is why citizenship and respect for the environment are essential for the many visitors of these remarkable natural spaces.

From a monastery to a farm, the abbey underwent many transformations until it was bought by the Department of Sarthe in 1959. Now the seat of the Departmental Assembly but also an essential place for cultural and tourist events, the abbey de l’Épau opens a new chapter in its history by rediscovering its letters of nobility, that becomes Royal.
