Vacation is one of the most wanted moments for a lots of people especially those who are craving from stress-free days. This is the moment when you can truly enjoy your time without worrying over your works, responsibilities and all. It is safe to say that a vacation is the best way to temporarily escape from hectic life. However, it is highly possible that you would get carried away during your vacation. Since you would feel so free, you started eating irregularly and eat in larger portion than usual. Of course, it is not something you couldn’t do. You could eat as much as you want during your vacation but the risk of gaining extra pounds would be higher as well.

Preventing yourself from gaining extra pounds on vacation

A vacation can help you feel more relax and recharged. Your problems won’t dissolve just because you take a vacation. It can at least lessen your level of stress. Therefore, you can return with lighter steps. However, it is also often that people gaining weight during a vacation that they have to deal with the after. When they return at home, they need to work extra to remove all the extra pounds they brought as souvenir. Instead of feeling happy, you might be feeling more stress after a vacation. So here are some tips to help you avoid gaining weight on vacation while enjoying the experience as well:

  •  First thing first, you can try anything you want during your vacation. Eat the local delicacies can be a great experience. However, don’t forget to watch what you eat as well. It is highly advised not to rely on 100% unhealthy foods. You can make balance ratio between healthy and indulgent ones. The most ideal one is 80% for healthy choice and 20% for free choice. You can also go for 70/30 or 75/25 ratio. Keep in mind that using 50/50 ratio doesn’t mean balance diet during a vacation.
  • Try to maintain a good balance between eating and exercising. Of course, vacation is the time when you want to stay relax by sipping your favorite drinks on the side of the infinity pool. However, laying down on your hotel room all day long is not considered healthy especially when your intake of food is increasing. Thus, make sure to exercise regularly even when you are on vacation. You don’t have to do the hard core regime but make sure to do a regular exercise even for 20-30 minutes a day.
  • Pack some snacks and stay hydrated. It is possible to mistaken thirst as hunger. Therefore, make sure to stay hydrated during your vacation. Aside from doing good for your body, drinking plenty of water will prevent you from excessive eating. Besides, you can always have some snacks if you are hungry before meal time. However, make sure to choose healthy snacks. It is also recommended to avoid buffet because it gives you free access to take everything you want and make yourself forget about gaining extra pounds.
